The ACC Hosts Myanmar DG of ASEAN Department

On 27 October 2023, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with Director General Khin Thidar Aye of the ASEAN Department of Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the ACC.

Secretary General Shi Zhongjun expressed appreciation to the Myanmar side for its sustained and firm support to the ACC. He briefed the guests on the ACC’s efforts in promoting ASEAN-China cooperation and exchanges and shared the ACC’s latest achievements in 2023. He also briefed on the progress of the concrete cooperation projects between the ACC and the Myanmar side in such areas as education, linguistic training, media-related capacity building and tourism promotion. He stressed that the ACC looks forward to working with the Myanmar side to deliver on the existing programmes and explore practical cooperation in other potential areas, so as to translate sincere friendship between Myanmar and China into tangible benefits for the countries and peoples in our region.

Dr. Khin Thida Aye appreciated the ACC’s remarkable efforts in hosting varieties of activities and its significant role in deepening both practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN Member States (AMS) and China.  She stressed that Myanmar will do its best as country coordinator for ASEAN-China relations and will, together with the efforts by the ACC, conduct more activities promoting friendly exchanges and mutual understanding among AMS and China in 2024, the year announced as ASEAN-China year of people-to-people exchanges. She also expects more cooperation to be materialized with the ACC’s support in such areas as agriculture, science and technology, and best practice sharing on good governance.
