SG Shi Zhongjun Meets Chinese Ambassador to Brunei

On 29 February 2024, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with Ambassador Xiao Jianguo of China to Brunei in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Secretary General Shi Zhongjun briefed the latter on the main work of the ACC and outlined the activities planned for 2024. He stressed that the ACC stands ready to deepen cooperation and exchanges between AMS and China, as well as those between Brunei and China, by fully leveraging on the ACC as an effective platform and a pool of resources. The ACC is also looking forward to further supporting the Embassy of China in Brunei in its efforts to put into practice more concrete projects and foster mutual understanding and friendship among the peoples of both countries and the region at large. 

Ambassador Xiao Jianguo warmly welcomed SG Shi on his first visit to Brunei in the latter’s current capacity. He underlined that the Embassy will actively support the ACC in its all undertakings and make joint efforts with the ACC to expand ASEAN-China and Brunei-China cooperation in trade and investment, as well as people-to-people exchanges. Under the framework of the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges (ACYPPE), the Embassy stands ready to cooperate with the ACC in sponsoring more programs on people-to-people exchanges so as to deepen friendship between Brunei and China, and better contribute to the growth of ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

After the meeting, SG Shi presented the awarding certificate and trophy to Ms.Huifong Ng, a Bruneian artist, who won the third prize in the Logo Design Contest for 2024 ACYPPE sponsored by the ACC early this year.
