Secretary General Shi Zhongjun Meets Ambassador Chen Hai of China to Myanmar

    On 19 July 2023, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with H.E. Ambassador Chen Hai of China at the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar.
 
    Secretary General Shi Zhongjun thanked the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar for its long-term staunch support to the ACC’s work. He said that, since its establishment 12 years ago, the ACC has been committed to implementing the important consensus reached by leaders of ASEAN and China and continuously strengthening practical cooperation between both sides. China and Myanmar enjoy deep “pauk-phaw” friendship, complementary development advantages and broad prospects for cooperation. The ACC stands ready to further strengthen communication and cooperation with the Embassy, implement more exchange projects, and add impetus into building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future and consolidating ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
 
    Ambassador Chen Hai welcomed Secretary General Shi’s visit to Myanmar. He said that the post-pandemic era has witnessed significantly increased willingness and demand in AMS to cooperate with China. The Embassy is willing to further support the ACC in its endeavor to better facilitate cooperation, expand high quality people-to-people exchanges between both sides, generate new ideas and conduct concrete projects on youth exchanges, tourism promotion and vocational education, so as to better release the dividends of China-Myanmar and China-ASEAN cooperation and benefit the peoples of both countries and the region.
