Secretary General Shi Zhongjun Meets New Ambassador of Malaysia to China

On 31 January 2024, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with H.E. Norman Muhamad, the newly-appointed Ambassador of Malaysia to China. 

Secretary General Shi congratulated Ambassador Norman on his assumption of office, and extended appreciation for the sustained support rendered by the Embassy to the ACC. In commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, and with the designation of ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges, the ACC is poised to maintain a strong and continuous connection with the Embassy while exploring joint cooperation projects in such areas as education exchanges, tourism promotion and emerging industries. The ACC is committed to working steadfastly to elevate ASEAN-China and Malaysia-China comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights. 

Ambassador Norman appreciated the ACC’s endeavors in promoting ASEAN-China and Malaysia-China relations and cooperation. He stressed that ASEAN-China relations stand out as one of the most successful partnerships among all dialogue partners of ASEAN, with the extensive cooperation and fruitful achievements covering almost all fronts. China is the largest trading partner to ASEAN as well as to Malaysia, bringing concrete benefits to the both sides. Malaysia remains dedicated to working closely with other AMS and China to continuously strengthen Malaysia-China relations and the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Malaysia Embassy is committed to support the ACC in its ongoing efforts to facilitate friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between ASEAN and China and Malaysia and China.
