From 2 to 5 September 2023, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) led a group of Chinese companies for a visit to Indonesia to conduct research on the business environment and explore the investment opportunities.
On the morning of 5 September, Secretary General Shi had a meeting with Mr. Nurul Ichwan, Deputy Minister of Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Investment of Indonesia (BKPM). The two sides exchanged views on enhancing ASEAN-China and Indonesia-China cooperation in business, as well as encouraging more competitive companies from China to invest in Indonesia. The staff from BKPM introduced the investment opportunities and policies in Indonesia and answered the questions raised by participants.
During the study tour, Secretary General Shi and the group of Chinese companies visited Chinese Indonesia Association (INTI), China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, Indonesian Chinese Chamber of Commerce, China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation and Marunda Center of International Warehouse and Industrial Estate. The two sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation and attracting investment from China to Indonesia. The companies shared the interest of investment and possible cooperation projects in the near future.
In addition, invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Secretary General Shi attended the ASEAN-WIPO Regional Workshop on Creative Economy for ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific on 6 September in Jakarta.
