SG Shi Zhongjun Meets Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam

On 5 March 2024, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with the Chinese Ambassador Xiong Bo to Vietnam in Hanoi. They exchanged views on ways to further promote ASEAN-China cooperation and Vietnam-China relations.

Secretary General Shi Zhongjun briefed Ambassador Xiong on the work of the ACC and outlined the activities planned for 2024. He stressed that the ACC stands ready to deepen mutual trust and enhance exchanges and cooperation between ASEAN Member States (AMS) and China, as well as those between Vietnam and China, by fully leveraging on the ACC’s role as an effective platform to materialize such flagship projects as ASEAN-China Week activities. The ACC looks forward to working with the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi to better contribute to the growth of ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership and the building of Vietnam-China community with a shared future of strategic significance.

Ambassador Xiong warmly welcomed SG Shi's visit to Vietnam and stressed that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-Vietnam relations have embarked upon a new historical stage of building a community with a shared future of strategic significance. The practical cooperation between both countries enjoys enormous potential and bright prospects. The Chinese Embassy will continue to support the ACC’s all-round efforts and looks forward to a bigger role to be continuously played by the ACC in further promoting traditional friendship and practical cooperation between China and Vietnam as well as those between ASEAN and China.
