The ACC Promotes Tourism Cooperation in Yunnan

On 18 November 2023, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Yunnan Province of China, held ASEAN-China Tourism Investment Seminar 2023 in Kunming, Yunnan Province. H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC, Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khine of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar, Vice Governor Yang Bin of Yunnan Province and Deputy Secretary General Dr. Yasmeen Yasim of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, Deputy Minister Phosy Keomanivong of Information, Culture and Tourism of Lao PDR, and Secretary General Kunihiko Hirayashi of the ASEAN-Japan Centre attended the event. 

Secretary General Shi applauded this seminar as a fine platform for the tourism industries from both ASEAN and China to share and exchange information on potential opportunities and enhance practical cooperation related to tourism investment, so as to inject vitality into the regional tourism recovery in the post-pandemic era. 

Minister Thet Thet Khine noted that the seminar will facilitate enhancing competitiveness of the tourism industry and provide a valuable platform for networking among the ASEAN tourism investment authorities, the private sector representatives, businesses and potential investors from China.

Vice Governor Yang Bin stated that Yunnan will continue to launch quality cross-border tourism routes, build a national-level border tourism pilot zone and a cross-border tourism cooperation zone at a high level, and contribute to quality tourism cooperation between ASEAN and China. 

Under the theme of "Green Investment, Promoting Tourism Recovery and Sustainable Development", the seminar focused on tourism cooperation information sharing, tourism investment introduction, and best practice sharing. The Seminar is a complementary activity of the 2023 China International Travel Mart (CITM).
