From 23 to 27 November 2023, the 2nd Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE) was held at Hangzhou International Expo Center, Zhejiang Province. The 2nd GDTE was co-hosted by Zhejiang Provincial Government and the Ministry of Commerce of China, and co-organized by the Hangzhou Municipal Government, the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, and the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce (TDB). The ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) set up an ASEAN Pavilion at GDTE upon invitation, which is the first time that the ACC participated in the GDTE.

Under the theme of “Digital Trade, Global Access”, the 2nd GDTE aims to showcase the latest achievements of China’s development in digital economy and digital trade, focusing on the digital industrialization and the in-depth integration of digital technology with the real economy, promoting international cooperation in the digital field, and sharing development opportunities. Through photo presentation, video show, English-Chinese printed bilingual material distribution, and with interpretation by on-site staff members, the ACC pavilion gave a comprehensive introduction on ACC’s role and functions. The efforts made by ASEAN and China in connectivity and digital trade transformation were vividly demonstrated through specially collected video clips.

A large number of visitors stopped at the pavilion, getting publicity materials, interacting with the staff and tasting the ASEAN’s specialties. Nearly 1,000 enthusiastic visitors participated in the prize-winning quiz on site in a warm atmosphere.

Chinese Government officials and representatives of business associations and enterprises visited the ACC pavilion to have an in-depth understanding of the ACC’s functions, and expressed their willingness to cooperate with the ACC and exchange views on how to explore the ASEAN market and deepen the cooperation between ASEAN and China in the field of digital trade. Media agencies including People’s Daily and Zhejiang Daily visited the ACC pavilion and made coverage.
