The First ASEAN Students My Story with China Short Video Event Successfully Held

On 6 January, the General Display of the First My Story with China Video Display Event for ASEAN Students in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei was successfully held at Tianjin Normal University, unveiling the events of the ASEAN-China Centre(ACC) in 2024 ACYPPE. Honorable guests from ASEAN and China, including H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC, H.E. Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun of Indonesia to China, Vice Mayor Zhang Ling of Tianjin Municipal Government, Director-General Ma Jianfei of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation(CLEC) of the Chinese Ministry of Education, Party Secretary Wang Dinghua of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Party Secretary Qu Kai of Tianjin Normal University and Vice President Guo Yi of Hebei Normal University addressed the ceremony. Diplomats from AMS embassies in China, including Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam, and teachers and students from educational authorities from the aforesaid areas, amounting to over one thousand participants joined the event. 

Guided by the ACC and CLEC, the My Story with China Video Display Event for ASEAN Students in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei was jointly organized by Tianjin Normal University, Beijing Foreign Studies University and Hebei Normal University with the support from relevant parties. The event has lasted for 8 months, and attracted contribution from 62 organizations in ASEAN and Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei of China. Over 300 entries were submitted to the program.  

In his opening remarks, SG Shi commended the passion of the young students in becoming the new story creators and tellers of friendship of ASEAN and China, and encouraged them to make their own contribution to the steady regional development and bilateral relationship on the solid foundation formed by leaders of both sides and their predecessors. He emphasized that the ACC will continue to work together with governments of the two sides and relevant parties to foster amicable exchanges between youth of the two sides, strengthening ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership. 

Other dignitaries also sent their congratulations to the success of the event, shared their earnest expectations for the youth, and expressed their commitments to work in joint efforts with the ACC to promote high-quality and pragmatic cooperation between ASEAN and China. 

Participating students were presented with 81 awards, including Youth Elite, Youth Talents, Star of Style and Star of Future. They also staged a talent show with rich ASEAN and Chinese cultural elements.

Besides, New Year Exchange sessions were specially arranged by the organizers between the embassy representatives and students from their respective countries.
